Brian graduated from Nossi College of Art in Nashville, Tennessee and began his career as a graphic designer and advertising photographer for Gannett, Inc. He eventually moved into the newspaper editorial department as a photojournalist. He shot for Gannett, Inc. for three years and earned several awards including First place spot news photo and Second place feature photo from the Tennessee Press Association. In 2005, Brian began shooting editorial content for Journal Communications, Inc. as a travel photographer for their 100+ magazines across the country. He has won six awards with the company, including Landscape of the Year two years in a row. Brian was recently featured in the fall 2007 issue of PDNedu about "Cringe-worthy lessons of professional photographers."
